Our Level 2 course in Performance Analysis Tools introduces the key devices used by professional analysts.
At its core, performance analysis is the application of technology to football. A key part of the role is tracking developments in technology, and being your club’s resident expert in using technological tools.
Two types of device are especially important: cameras and wearables. Analysts use cameras to record matches and training and capture useful clips. Wearable devices allow analysts to collect granular data on physical and even technical performance.

This Course Includes:
Any of the modules can be taken by itself, but you’ll learn the most by taking all three in order.
Each module ends with an assessment: sometimes a multiple-choice quiz and sometimes an interactive exercise. When you’ve passed all three assessments, you’ll earn three CPD points.
The information you’ll learn on this course was provided by a group of performance analysts with experience in the Premier League, the Championship and Major League Soccer. You can visit our Experts page to see a selection of the analysts who have contributed to our courses.
Our award-winning content team worked closely with the analyst group to create a fully-interactive course based on their expertise. Our content team are not only football fans: we have years of experience creating digital learning for football professionals.
Level 2 Performance Analysis Tools is suitable for anyone interested in the nuts and bolts of working with analysis devices. You might be an early-career analyst looking to get the most out of key tools, or a student preparing for your first job or placement.
This course is not the ideal starting point if you’re new to performance analysis. Our Level 1 Foundation in Performance Analysis is a better starting point if you want to find out what the discipline involves and how it’s used in elite football. However, if you’re completely new to data in football, the best place to start is the Level 1 Introduction to Analysis in Football course.
Once you’ve chosen your course, you’ll be taken to a web page where you can get started. You can take the course entirely in your browser. It’s made up of text pages with images, animations, interactive exercises and a final questionnaire. Audio narration will guide you through.
You can complete the course at your own pace. It’s yours for life, so you can revisit it whenever you want.
You can take the course entirely in your browser. You don’t need any other materials, but you might want to take notes on paper or on another device.

We have done everything we can to make our courses accessible to those with visual, auditory and cognitive challenges. Please get in touch if we can support your learning in any way.
