One of the main entry routes to professional analysis is through an internship or studentship at a professional club. These placements give you the opportunity to gain skills and network with football professionals. Sometimes a placement is almost an extended job interview: as an intern, you’re well-placed when it comes time for the club to hire a new analyst.

But it’s not always easy to find the right placement, make a successful application, or get the most out of the opportunity once you’ve earned it.
